About Me
Yagaira Taveras
—Licensed Professional Counselor in Connecticut
Working with teenagers, is what I do with greatest interest and passion. I’ve spent the majority of my career working with adolescents, teens and their families in a variety of counseling settings including outpatient, residential program for homeless/runaway females ages 16-21, center for sexual abuse and domestic violence, and school based therapy in public school districts.
My Therapy Style:
My therapy style is welcoming, genuine and caring. I don’t fall into the traditional therapy mode and I fully embrace out-of-the box moments to engage and connect with my clients. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with client-centered philosophies, often integrating creative arts and expressive therapies such as visual art, written expression, music, and play. Teenagers are as unique as they come, approaches and interventions are tailored to meet their needs.
Credentials:
Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Connecticut (License #3968). I hold a Masters of Science degree in Counseling from Troy University.
On A Personal Note:
I’m a New York girl, born and raised in Long Island. I’ve moved around quite a bit in my lifetime but have settled here in beautiful Connecticut.
When I’m not at work, you may find me outside gardening. I love traveling and most of all enjoying the company of my husband and our three daughters, a.k.a my Three Birds.
